Campus Life

Campus Ministry

King’s is a place where students are encouraged to grow spiritually as well as academically. Our prayer is that each student would encounter God-centered community where they can explore their faith, ask questions, and pursue a meaningful relationship with Christ.

There are a variety of ways students can interact with one another while expressing their faith on campus.

Chapel

Chapel is the highlight of our week. It’s a time to come together for worship, Scripture, and community! Grab your lunch and join us every Wednesday from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. in the Atrium. We’ll gather for worship, Bible-based messages, church collaborations, personal testimonies, and fun events full of food and community. We have students, staff, and faculty that come from a large variety of denominations, and we love to celebrate the diversity that makes up the body of Christ. Whether you have a religious affiliation or not, everyone is welcome!

6:23 Worship

Join us for time spent in worship and Scripture—with snacks! 6:23 is a one-hour evening service that gets its name from Ephesians 6:23. It also signifies the service start time: 6:23 p.m. For each service we partner with a local church, allowing students to connect with them and learn about their ministries. These services happen on campus two to three times per semester.

Small Groups

On any day of the week, there’s likely a group of students at King’s meeting to talk about their faith, the Bible, praying together, and sharing about what’s happening in their lives. A small group is a great way to connect with others, build community, and deepen in faith. Groups go through a devotional or passage of Scripture together each semester and meet at various times throughout the week. For more information about signing up, email Amanda Duenk, Spiritual Growth Coordinator: amanda.duenk@kingsu.ca.

Church Connect

In addition to inviting worship teams and pastors for local churches to participate in our chapel and 6:23 worship services, Campus Ministries maintains a database of local churches, their worship styles and denominations, programs and services, so we can introduce options that may be a good fit for you.

Prayer Requests

If you have something you would like prayer for, email your prayer request to student.life@kingsu.ca. Please specify if your prayer request is confidential or if you would like it prayed for during times of prayer on campus. We welcome prayer requests during 6:23 as well.

Prayer Room

The Prayer Room, L117, is a designated space for prayer, meditation, journaling, and Bible study. It is available for use any time the building is open

Residence Life

The residence community at King’s is a great place to live. There are amazing amenities and students have the opportunity to make lasting friendships, get involved in campus events, and experience support and companionship throughout their time at King’s.

Our residence program is supported by a team of live-in staff: Led by the Community Life Coordinator (CLC) and assisted by a team of students known as Community Care Leaders (CCL’s). The team is trained to provide support, engage students in co-curricular learning, and provide opportunities for connection with peers.

On-campus housing is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Students are encouraged to apply early, online at: https://www.kingsu.ca/campus-life/residence.

Each residence option comes fully furnished, is secure card accessible, has wireless internet, and is outfitted with shared pre-paid laundry facilities, and access to common lounge areas. Students are responsible for providing their own bedding, task lighting, and accessory furniture as permitted. See page 67 for occupancy and meal plan fees.

All students living in residence are expected to adhere to the Community Living Standards in addition to the other University policies. For more information about living in Residence and the different options available see: https://www.kingsu.ca/campus-life/residence-programming.

Tower Living

Tower living is spacious, comfortable, and convenient. With immediate access to King's campus, students living in the Tower can be out of their rooms and sitting in class within minutes! Five stories of the King's Tower are dedicated to single or double occupancy dorm-style living, and two stories are dedicated to suite-style living - each option dependent on availability. Tower living is ideal for students of all ages who are excited about making friends and getting involved with the King's community. Living and programming in the Tower lends itself to countless opportunities for community engagement and the formation of close relationships.

There are two living options available in the Tower: dorm-style rooms are set up to be shared by two students of the same gender (though some single occupancy rooms may be available) and include their own bathroom. Suites are designed for four students of the same gender and include two bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, and a living area complete with kitchenette. All Tower residents living in double or single accommodation are required to purchase a meal plan. Suite residents are encouraged to purchase a meal plan but are not required. See Prepaid Food Services Account for details.

Apartment Living

Located a few steps away from the main King's campus, the South Campus Apartment residence offers excellent living facilities for returning students. Apartments include six single bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a full kitchen and living space. Applicants to this residence must have completed a minimum of 24 credits or have been admitted as a mature student. Meal plans offered through the Cafeteria are optional for apartment residents.

International Student Programming

Students at The King's University come from all over the world. King's celebrates this diversity and strives to create opportunities for students of all cultural backgrounds to thrive. We provide specific programming and support for International students to help with the transition to life in Canada and King’s.

From our annual Global Awareness Week to cultural celebrations and programming, there are a range of occasions for students to connect with each other, King's, and the greater Edmonton community.

Indigenous student support

King's Indigenous Student Program runs cultural awareness events, collaborates with elders in the community, and plans events for celebration and commemoration around Reconciliation Week each September. The Indigenous Student Program also maintains an Indigenous student room on campus. Events and opportunities for non-Indigenous students to encounter Indigenous cultures are planned throughout the year.

King's strives to create a unique, safe, and welcoming environment for all Indigenous students. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment to discuss opportunities and resources available for Indigenous students, please contact student.life@kingsu.ca or visit https://www.kingsu.ca/services/indigenous-students for more information.

Non-academic Conduct

The Non-academic Student Code of Conduct establishes clear expectations of accountability and behavior that seek to foster integrity and responsibility within The King's University community. The King's University seeks to create spaces in which members of the community feel welcome and heard. Joining this community obliges each member to uphold the standards of conduct as articulated in university policies and guidelines.

The University may refuse admission, withdraw admission or apply other outcomes to any student who does not maintain acceptable standards of conduct by violating university policy. Such action will be taken in accordance with the procedures outlined in the University policy that have been violated.

For reference, the non-academic code of conduct can be found Non-Academic Student Conduct.
