Most windows have some form of editing buttons on their toolbar. These appear just after the navigation buttons. They are:
This starts the process of adding a record. Different windows have different processes from this point on.
This deletes the currently displayed record. Note that deletion is not always the best choice. In Current Students, for instance, only absolutely erroneously entered applicants should be deleted; applicants who do not register are moved into deadfiles, while students who do register are moved into archives one their records are no longer relevant.
This button locks the record so that only the current operator can edit it, and enables various fields for editing. It also enables the two following buttons, which are otherwise grayed out.
This button will save the changes just made by the operator.
This button will attempt to cancel the changes just made by this operator. Note however, that in many cases, when changes are made to subsidiary files, for example course registrations or accounts receivable records, those are not undone by this button. The program will also attempt to warn you that some changes have not been saved -- note that this errs on the side of caution by perhaps noting changes that are not real changes.
