Once admitted, students with previous post-secondary study will be interested in receiving a transfer credit assessment. This can be entered on the Post Secondary tab. The lower half of this window is where this entry is done.

When in Edit mode, the buttons allow the adding of records. The subwindow that appears is as follows:

The institution is specified first; institutions on the previous postsecondary institution list for this student appear at the top. The academic year the course was taken should be specified, along with the other institution's course code, mark, and marking system.

Once this has been specified, and the course code may be partially specified for this step, the Lookup button at the bottom of this dialog will check prior transfer credit issued. If a matching entry is found, the operator should select it and click the Use button. This will move the previously used values to the top portion of the dialog.

If no match is found, the local equivalent can be manually be specified. It can be a particular course code, in the form of 4 characters or spaces and three digits. For unspecified course credit, X may be used in place of a number. The number of credits should be filled in. The Applied box allows you to select the degree to which the credit applies. This may be at the degree or major level. This is especially helpful for students who pursue multiple degrees. A program tag may be specified, indicating how this course fulfills program requirements, by right clicking the program tage area and choosing add. Tags added in error should be highlighted, right clicked and delete chosen.

The Transfer Credit Note field is for indicating particular restrictions or information on this transfer. For example, when unspecified transfer credit is granted, it may be that the course is close enough to a specific course that the specific course should not also be taken. This would be noted as "Student is not to take XXXXX" or "Credit will not also be received for XXXX." The note may also indicate that the has fulfilled a program requirement. These should be further disambiguated through the Exception Table.

Once the entry is complete, OK should be clicked.

When the full list of credit is complete, a summary report to send to the student can be printed through the Summary button. The institutional logo can be placed in the folder with the current student data in a file called xfrlogo.bmp and it will be printed at the top of this report.
