Installation
First Time
When the client is installed on a workstation for the first time, it is accomplished by running the latest setup.exe. This is normally located at the root of your network CrossRoad folder. Note that you must have local administrator rights to install this program.
You will be asked for an installation path. This will default to a network location; please change this to "c:\CrossRoad" (without the quotes).
The final step of this process offers to run a file called ChkSis.bat which attempts to copy the one database that must be installed on the workstation. This contains the path information that is required to run the program. If you get an error loading SISMM on starting the program, this file did not copy correctly. Various network security settings may prevent the proper copying, but it is usually possible to copy this file manually using Windows Explorer.
Subsequent Updates
Each time that CrossRoad is started, it compares its version number to that of the setup.exe in the root folder for CrossRoad on the network. If they do not match, it will start the installation process. The information that was entered the first time the program was installed will be remembered, and so you should be able to move through the setup relatively quickly.
Towards the end of this process, the setup will display the contents of a "readme.txt" file (that you can also find in c:\CrossRoad). The file is in reverse chronological order, so the most recent entries are at the top. Please do take the time to review recent changes as it is a good way to learn of new program features.
