Officially we require 30 of 33 credits completed in the teachable major, and 9 of 18 credits in the teachable minor. However, we will allow a student who needs 12 credits to complete both the teachable major and minor in any combination into the program, as long as the teachable major and minor are ones that can be done here. So a student might have a complete teachable minor, but be missing 12 credits in the teachable major and still be admissible.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
= Special Status BEd Students =&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
We have been approached by a number of students who approach us about completing a limited number of courses and practica in our education program, but not completing a full degree. This desire usually arises from the individual having applied for certification, and having been refused by the Teacher Education and Certification branch of Alberta Education.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
We are willing to consider such students in our program on a limited basis. These students should complete a new application form that Kara will provide shortly. In that they will need to demonstrate:&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;lt;ul&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Possession of a degree from a recognized institution (official transcripts required)&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;The deficiency letter from Alberta Education (a copy is sufficient)&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;A BEd recommendation&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;A demonstration of English Proficiency (the standards for this are as in the Calendar)&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;A statement of philosophy of education&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;lt;/ul&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
