COURSE DESCRIPTION: An introduction to the principles and applications of GIS. Hands-on lab assignments focus on data input and manipulation, spatial problem solving, and map presentation using GIS software on micro-computers. Students complete a GIS-based project.

Pre- or Corequisite: One of STAT 300, BUSI 320 (Business students), PSYC 301 and 302 (Psychology students), MATH 200 (Chemistry and Computing science students)

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
  • Understand the general role of GIS and applications to specific environmental issues.
  • Gain basic familiarity with a GIS software package
