COURSE DESCRIPTION: Students will be introduced to the application of business theories in a complex, interactive, virtual business environment. Working in teams students will establish strategy and implement management decisions in the areas of operations, marketing, finance, and human resources. As well, teams will need to respond to various ethical dilemmas placed before them during the course of the simulation.

Prerequisites: BUSI 355, 396
REQUIRED TEXTS: Registration with CapSim www.capsim.com A student manual will be provided once you have registered.

    • Review Practice Round 2
    • Complete Practice Round 3 on Fed 5, and Round 4 on Feb 8
  • Feb 10 – meet as a class
    • Review Results of Practice Rounds
    • Submit team assessment of Practice Rounds, and intended strategy document
    • Complete Competition Round 1 on Feb 14
  • Feb 17 - meet as teams with instructor
    • Complete Competition Round 2 on Feb 28 (Note: in this round you start to input HR decisions)
  • Feb 21-25 Reading Week – no class
  • March 3 – meet as teams with instructor
    • Complete Competition Round 3 on March 7 (Note: you must enter the success measurements upon which you wish to primarily be assessed, and Advanced Marketing decisions must now also besubmitted in this and all subsequent rounds)
  • March 10 – meet as teams with instructor
    • Complete Competition Round 4 on March 14 (Advanced TQM decisions must now also be submitted in this and all subsequent rounds)
  • March 17 – meet as teams with instructor
    • Complete Competition Round 5 on March 19 and Round 6 on March 21
    • Prepare Business Plan & Presentation
  • March 24 Business Plan Presentations
    • Present Plan and Complete Competition Round 7 on March 28
  • March 31 - meet as teams with instructor
    • Complete Competition Round 8 on April 4
  • April 7 - meet as teams with instructor
    • April 9 – submit final reflective journals
  • April 19- 26 (Date TBD) – complete Capsim CompXM)
