COURSE DESCRIPTION: A course on a topic of figure of special interest to a member of the business faculty and offered on a non-recurring basis.

Prerequisites: Consent of the instructor

2015/16 Winter

This course provides students an opportunity to apply business theories to a complex, interactive, virtual business environment.  Working in teams, students will establish strategy and implement management decisions in the areas of operations, finance, marketing and human resources.  As well, teams will need to respond to various ethical dilemmas placed before them during the course of the simulation.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: Students will: 
  • Appreciate the integrated nature of a business enterprise at a strategic and tactical level
  • Develop a greater understanding of business metrics, particularly financials
  • Develop greater team communication skills
  • Develop greater understanding in a function area.

    • Jan 12 – meet as a class
      • - Review Rehearsal
      • - Group Dynamic Lecture
    • Groups Assigned. 
    • Complete Practice Round 1 Jan 17
  • Week 3
    • Jan 19 – meet as a class
      • - Review Practice Round 1 
    • Complete Practice Round 2 Jan 24
  • Week 4
    • Jan 26 – meet as teams with instructor 
      •  - Review Practice Round 2
    • Complete Practice Round 3 on Jan 28, and Round 4 on Jan 31

      •  - Review Results of Practice Rounds
    • Submit team assessment of Practice Rounds, and intended strategy document
    • Complete Competition Round 1 on Feb 7  (Note: all Competition Rounds include Advanced Marketing decisions)

    • Complete Competition Round 3 on Feb 28 (Note: you must enter the success measurements upon which you wish to primarily be assessed, and Advanced TQM decisions must now also be submitted in this and all subsequent rounds)

    • Prepare Business Plan & Presentation

    • Present Plan and prepare Round 6 decisions
