COURSE DESCRIPTION: A course on a topic of figure of special interest to a member of the business faculty and offered on a non-recurring basis.

Prerequisites: Consent of the instructor

2013/14 Winter

This course provides students an opportunity to apply business theories to a complex, interactive, virtual business environment.  Working in teams students will establish strategy and implement management decisions in the areas of operations, finance, and human resources.  As well, teams will need to respond to various ethical dilemmas placed before them during the course of the simulation.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: Students will:  
  • Appreciate the integrated nature of a business enterprise at a strategic and tactical level
  • Develop a greater understanding of business metrics, particularly financials
  • Develop greater team communication skills
  • Develop greater understanding in a function area.

    • Complete Competition Round 6 on March 24  (Note: in this round there is the possibility of Labour unrest)
    • March 27 – IS Conference

    • April 3 - meet as teams with instructor
    • Complete Competition Round 7 on March 31  (Note: another round with potential Labour unrest)
  • Week 13
    • April 8 (Tuesday) - meet as teams with instructor

    • April 12 (Saturday) – submit reflective journals
